With the trailer, and your manual transmission, a safe number would be figure 15. It will probably be better than that but 15 is safe.

Ham radio comm plan (as a back up to CB and cell phone

146.520 is the National simplex and calling frequencies are by mutual agreement and are not a part of the FCC regulations. It is good operating practice to keep contact length on these frequencies to a minimum, moving off if you wish to continue. It is not however, illegal to remain on the frequency. I'll be traveling on 146.520 before and after the event.

Also, I programmed the local repeaters into my radio and should have coverage most of the time:

I have all sorts of frequencies all set in my computer, but the computer won't talk to the radio. Sad

I'll try to manually add those repeaters. I usually cruise around on 146.52 and hear nothing.

There is also one way further north at T18R12. This is the Allagash area (not by Allagash lake) but might be closer than Brownville, Skowhegan, or Madison.

Based on my last experience in North Maine Woods, it was very dry in the beginning & the logging roads were dusty. For some reason, probably being last in line, my snorkel must have inhaled all of the dust from the 2 trucks in front of me. We ran with headlights on because we could easily lose each other in the dust.

If it rains the whole time, this won't be an issue haha

Its still a week + out, but the few showers predicted could keep said dust down.

Even if it is dusty, I have a CO2 tank & a blowgun if anyone has an issue with a clogged filter.

This is a video from my last trip up there a couple years back, behind a tandem logging truck. I only crept up close to our leader to shoot the video, I don't always tailgate Wink

Team ARG is donating a bag of Virginia jumbo roasted salted peanuts for each team to munch on the trip. We hope you enjoy our crunchy nuts - you won't be able to keep your hands off of them.  drool

I'm extremely excited! So much so, that I think my wife wished I had more night shifts between now and then so she could have a break from hearing me talk about it! This is the first of such adventures for us, so I'm like a kid in a candy shop right now getting ready!

I totally line up with you! Luckily for my poor wife I had to make a business trip which is saving her from my enthusiasm!

We are getting really excited for the MOTL. Can't wait to see everyone next week and meet new Overlanders. We are not bringing our Campa ATT Trailer this trip, doing a "minimalist" setup for the Bumble Bee (02 LR D2). I will probably miss the Campa. LOL Time to go finish gear setup in the Bumble Bee, then a test run this weekend. See you all soon in Maine.
