Best Camping in Maine

Hey guys, I thought this might be a cool topic.

Im wondering if anyone has any favorite or awesome camping spots in Maine that they would like to share.

If you had only once chance to camp in Maine where would you go?

I would like to find a spot right on a lake or the ocean, Im wondering if anything like this exists.

Anyone have any input?

Hands down it'd hafta be on Round Pond, just below the Allagash Lake in the great North Maine Woods.

If you don't want remote camping. Try out Beaver Brook Camground in Monmouth. Great campground right on Androscoggin Lake. And it's only about 15 minutes from allwheels offroad park.

As much as I like going up North. Beaver brook is a great family friendly place the wife and I like to spend time there camping on the lake.

I am not against campgrounds but I've been to plenty.

I have never been able to do any remote camping, I am very interested in anything like that.

I will have to look into cobscook state park, that sounds awesome.

Just drive north till your cell phone stops working and then pull off into the woods and pitch a tent.  

You could do mount blue state park as well.

Head out the Holeb rd and there are alot of ponds and streams to tent near

Not off topic. Its on the topic of camping... And we all love to camp.. O.C.D.

Holeb road has alot of camping and exploring spots in the area.

Ya it does I try to go up every year. I cant wait for summer to head up again.

I honestly have no idea on dates yet.

Ideally I would like to do two camping trips to Maine this year, but I have no idea yet, as spring/summer gets closer I will have a better idea.

Just trying to figure out possible locations at this point, the Moosehead lake region has my attention for one trip, but I am still open to anything.
