Northeast Overland's First Annual Fall Foliage Tour
Guest- Guest
Yes. Gotta have 4wd for more reasons than one. It will help prevent damage in loose gravel roads as well as help through this spot mentioned above. What other vehicle would you take?

Quick update everyone!!
There are several fuel stations near the dirt parking lot next to the McDonald's where we are meeting on Saturday mernin @ 0900. Our end locations on Saturday will be well within any fuel range and everyone will be able to top off Saturday evening or Sunday mernin'. Carrying extra fuel will not be necessary for the Fall Foliage Tour. Extra batteries for your camera is highly recommended tho!!
Please plan on bringing a bag lunch for Saturday. We'll potentially be eating on the trail if you like to eat around 12-1pm. However, if you so choose you can just bring snack items as we plan to be going by a grocery/deli store around 1:30-2pm. We can stop here and eat and also grab some last minute supplies for those camping in the wicked wild woods.

The weather for this weekend is showing some slight dampness from Mother Nature so that'll help keep the dust down...
Right now it looks like we have about 6 people camping, maybe more.

For those sleeping in/on/beside queen size beds, have you made your reservations at http://www.rangeleysaddlebackinn.com/ yet?

Very strong likelihood we will be bailing out
Work/project problem. As usual, Building Automation System issue. And when I'm self employed I can't call in sick.... Parts are shipping but doubtful will be resolved by Friday at noon. (in time for us to drive north)
So if someone wanted to go but missed out on a slot, PM me. Boggy-time is noon tomorrow.
Cheers

Howdy all -
New to the group. My 15yr old and I will be driving a green rubicon with RTT. No lodging for us, we're on the roof. Looking forward to meeting everyone at the golden arches.
Chris.

Dang! I just learn of this today, after spending Sun-Thurs in Rangeley, just getting home an hour ago. The leaves have pretty much turned but the scenery is still fantastic. Take a ride up Quill Hill, the view is outstanding. A word of warning, the walls at the Inn are cardboard thin, so a good nights sleep can be tough, but the BBQ at the 45th is very good and so is the beer! Hope everybody has fun. Maybe next year for us.

Timothy and I just got back. Not a ton on mileage and a great group of folk from ME, VT, CT, NY, and QC... Yes this ride had interstate and international participation.
Now keep in mind that this ride has been in the works for months, and the date was set in late July. As usual, we had a beautiful fall foliage season... but a storm dropped 3"+ of rain and heavy winds three days before the event. Most of the vibrant reds and oranges got washed away. This can happen with Mother Nature related rides. It was a great weekend none the less.
Spots of yellow in an otherwise bland hillside:
Tumbledown Mountain:
The view from the camping spot:
A chilly morning (31F):
Quill Hill summit: (That is snow falling from the clouds in the background)
Ira Mountain:
These just overview pictures. I'm sure (I hope) others will post up their pictures of some of the challenges.

I want to thank everyone who came out and enjoyed themselves on this ride. We appreciate it your attendance and really hope you had a wonderful time. Mother Nature had her way with us from the torrential rains just days prior to this event that took some of the luster away to the rains, winds and even snow that made its presents known this morning and during our day trip today that made the ride a little different than envisioned. That being said, I had a blast and hope to see some similar faces next year during some of our sponsored rides and other rides that are offered by others.
Again thank you and I'll have pics and vids up tomorrow After a little shut eye

Hey everyone, my family and I had a great time, and we met a lot of really awesome folks. This was our first experience in Maine. It was a great experience, and a lasting one. Unfortunately, I can't figure how to post pics from a mobile device.
