Winter Rangeley Ride

What: Rangeley ride

When: January 12th (Saturday), 2013

Where: Rangeley/Oquossoc area

Meeting location: Leaving Wayne at 9am, Passing Through Jay 9:20-9:30

What to bring: Your street legal vehicle (4WD recommended), Warm clothing, basic extracation equipment, snacks/drinks (non-alcoholic), shovel, camera/batteries, etc.

What to expect: This ride will mostly entail driving on public roads to, around, and returning from the Rangeley lake region. Road conditions may vary from paved and plowed state highways, plowed logging/access roads, and possibly unplowed areas. The plan is to meet in a central location, take a leasurely and scenic route toward Rangeley. Lunch in Rangeley. More driving in the afternoon. Probably home early evening. NOBODY GETS LEFT BEHIND. All vehicles will make it or we will all turn around. That said, don't bring your Honda Civic.

Last year I led a similar ride and we travelled approxamately 250 miles. Fuel and food available in Rangely, Phillips, Oquossoc, Rumford/Mexico, and Farmington.

At the rate the snow is piling up, maybe we should do this in early January? Just a thought..

Possibly, but older snow pack is firmer (more likely to hold up a vehicle ).

And deeper. It didn't hold us up last year...

If you have them, you might want to bring tire chains.

Any chance of leaving an hour earlier? That'll give us sufficient time to do more exploring. Otherwise we'll be getting into Rangeley right around lunchtime.

At least 3 weeks, my boss pretty much does the schedule two work week cycles in advance.  two weeks at minimum would be fine but 3 would be better. I'll try to see how many I can but this winter spring will be tough between work/school.  Summer though I should have plenty of sufficient time to explore

I was just hoping to do some exploring/wheelin/etc before eating. Ya know, have some adventure between point A (Wayne area) and point B (Rangeley area)  

So who all is going? Is it just Jareb and I?

Sorry guys. That's what happens when you work shift work and your not on the top of the seniority list. Im secured the 22nd with no issues though. I look forward to that trip.

I am still hoping to make it.....I will be meeting in Jay if at all.

Please let me know ASAP if anything changes. I hope you can make it, but understand if you can't.
