Northeast Overland's First Annual Fall Foliage Tour Empty Northeast Overland's First Annual Fall Foliage Tour

Post by Admin Sat Aug 23, 2014 4:18 pm

    Hey Everyone!

Northeast Overland is proud to present their first annual Fall Foliage ride to rival all others! And we are hoping that you can make it up to the great State of Maine and see why everyone travels from afar to view our excellent trails and beautiful scenery during this perfect time of year! We will take people to some of Maine's most scenic spots for sight-seeing, great Overlanding, and just plain fun!

This ride will have a little taste of everything for everyone as the area we will be exploring will allow for flexible camping situations for all who attend. We'll offer camping as primitive as possible, all the way up to a nice and quiet stay in a Bed 'n Breakfast, Inn, or Lodge all within a short distance of base camp to allow for ease of gathering on Sunday morning when we will be off to explore the area for a good portion of the day.

Our start time will be Saturday morning after a good breakfast and our end time on Sunday will allow people ample time who have to travel. There will be a few members camping/lodging overnight on Friday as well, so depending on interest, we will tentatively have our starting area on Saturday morning which will be determined based upon the attendees.

For a more enjoyable experience, we highly recommend a working CB, four wheel drive, and of course your camera's!

The dates for this ride are Saturday and Sunday, October 18th and 19th, which is the sweet spot for Maine's peak fall foliage season. A $50/rig entry fee will be charged for the weekend spectacular with a limit of only 10 rigs. Payment will be accepted via PayPal and can be sent to northeastoverland@gmail.com
So act fast and get your spot today!

Roughly speaking, what are you thinking of for a starting point? Western Location? Northern Location?

OK guys, here's where we stand with lodging.

Currently the best option that I could find would be Rangeley Saddleback Inn and they have plenty of availability up to this point, but it is getting less and less the closer we get to the time frame.

Currently there are rooms available for the 17th and 18th and they are a full service lodging facility. There are multiple things to do including game rooms onsite, indoor pools, and all kinds of different things. Live bands on site, with a dining area and bar, and just a bunch of things that can make your stay there a little better. Pets can come too if your reserve early!

Rooms are available for all of us according to them and house 2 queen size beds for most, although some single beds are available but the price is the same. Up to 10 families and the rate is $108 including tax and if we can get over 10 families to stay there, the rate would go down to $85.

Give them a call and make your reservations today. Mention that you are with NortheastOverland's group and they will try and get most of us together in the same area, although not guaranteed.

As for those who would like to camp, I will have details on Wednesday as to where people will be able to stay as we are doing a pre run a few days before that.

Here is the site link. Check it out. Seems pretty decent and the tripadvisor site shows its getting 3.9 stars.

Let me know if anyone has questions.

    Quick question!

I read "$50 per rig". Just want to confirm, that is PER rig, not per person.

If it's per rig, I'll talk with the missus tonight and if she gives me the thumbs up, Kat and I are in! Smile

Would be great to meet some of you folks!

Per rig. Bring as many as you feel comfortable driving, camping, or lodging with. We want everyone to have fun for cheap!

Quick question for the organization team:

How much low range do you have planned for this event, more or less than MOTL?

I ask because I'm trying to plan which truck to bring. My FZJ80 is getting 8MPG over 65MPH.... damn 4:88 gearz and roof rack

4wd may be used 5% of this ride and low range will likely only be used to keep your RPMs down.

.There's a potential spot of an hour long low range "road"... Either way, 4WD is a must!
