Memorial Day Weekend 2014

Just reserved a site at Mount Blue State Park. We'll be up there from Friday (23rd) until Monday (26th). We'll be on site 87.
We plan to explore the local 2-tracks and whatnots.

There's still plenty of sites left but if you're planning on going reserve now cuz they go fast!

Man, wish I could but the wife wont be to keen on bringing a 20'ish day old infant out. And she will still be recovering from surgery.. Booo.

Unfortunately Ill be getting my run on....that's Marathon Weekend.

We'll be there... Two adults, a 5y.o. and a 5m.o.

That will be a good shake down for our camper! My wife and I are in.

My wife and I are backing out. Our trip to NC has grown a bit and we need to leave earlier than previously anticipated. I guess our camper shake down will now be somewhere between NH and the Blue Ridge Parkway! Hope you folks have fun, see ya in the on the 19th!

One month from today (May 23rd) I'll be rolling into Mount Blue State Park for a wicked awesome weekend!! Would be cool if more peeps can make it!

I plan on doing some hiking fishing and 4-wheel exploring!

Of course making s'mores is standard

found out from a guy at work he said that angie falls is about a twenty min walk from that little parking area that we stopped at thought it might be one of the spots we could check out

Looks like Saturday will be the best day for exploring. Mostly cloudy with 50% chance showers/rain..

I'll spare you the details of how things went with the in-laws, though they went fairly well.

Saturday we made the trek out to Angel falls.  This was a leisurely drive from the campground, down by Tumbledown mountain, Coos canyon, north on rt 17 and up Bemis Mountan road.  There were a few road washouts that made the journey more interesting.  The hike into the falls involves crossing two streams, and water was a little high.  the second crossing was at the lower end of the cascades and  proved to be a little more than we wanted to do with young children.  Even the lower falls are spectacular, and the upper vistas are supposed to be even better.  We hiked back out through light rain and ate lunch.

The return trip involved less pavement...

Bond and I made it a wee bit farther up Angel Falls (but not too the top), by sliding off of cliffs and jumping across high, fast moving water from rock to rock. Fortunately he had his harness on and I used that often to assist him in his leaps and bounds. Either way, he wasn't too impressed with it, so we climbed back up a different cliff and regrouped with the others.
I met another fella with a DC Taco and he insisted he buy mine, lol. He seemed super jealous. I explained everything about it, Toytec, and of course Northeast Overland. Hoping to see Patrick on here soon!
Bond & I went home Monday via Byron Rd, Coo's Canyon, Height of Land, Crosstown Rd, Smalls Falls, and as much dirt roads as possible which he thoroughly enjoyed! Found a new "fun-cut" from Avon to Temple too

Sounds like a great time. I have vaca coming up soon i gotta find some roads to explore too.
