Not much being posted on this site so...I thought I'd chime in. Iv'e been 4 wheeling for a long time, mostly at work in the past. Lately I've gotten the Overland bug and, well, there's no vaccine as of yet. I have a 2014 Jk I've been building for a year now. Living in Mid Coast Maine, there are a multitude of places we have been in the last year. Usually I just make a plan to go and, we go. Coming from another State I'm not real familiar with the ways of the State of Maine but I'm getting the hang of it. I like to head out to Maine Public Reserved Land areas for my exploring. We look for old logging roads and just pick a direction and go. So far we've been lucky and have had some decent exploring and very remote and quiet nights. We have all the right gear, First Aid kit, Traction Boards, winch and a background in Search and Rescue. I don't try to push the envelope because we are always just one vehicle. We have a roof top tent and are pretty well self contained, dog included. In closing, this has been a great place to get away to in the last year, close to home yet far from the crowd.

A Maine Atlas & Gazetteer is a great source to find those old logging roads, primitive camping spots and secluded waterfalls or hiking trails! Sounds like you got a pretty self reliant adventure set up too!
