    FYI....

New England Forest Rally is two weeks away and they are very much in need of volunteers.

If you have ever wanted to attend or get more involved with stage rally this is a great opportunity, And this is the biggest stage rally on the east coast. Both Travis Pastrana and Ken Block will be competing

No experience needed! Guys with HAM radios license are really needed.

THE biggest benefit of volunteering is that you can get to spectate where no spectators are allowed. And every year official spectator locations get more limited. (Tip: the best spots to volunteer are at chicanes). Most of the event is up around Rangely and Richardson lakes, both Main and NH sides. With rally HQ at Sunday River

I think James Blumenthal is coordinating volunteers this year, supper nice guy.

Indeed. You won't regret it. Awesome time. Great people, great scenery, great cars, great beer (after of course). How can you go wrong. Feel free to say Hi.

Every WRC driver who has competed in it has said it is every bit as challenging as any WRC event. Some say on par with Rally Finland

If you do decide to volunteer, I am happy to give pointers on what to bring and what to expect. All good but best to know before you get up there.

It was ten years ago I first competed in the event, but back then it was known as Maine Forest Rally. Since then had one roll, one hi center stuff (.5 miles from finish of last stage on the last day...), and 6 clean finishes.

I miss Concord Pond night stage.... Sad

I signed up a few months back and never got a correspondence. I volunteered for recovery and extrication. I tried to sign up again but I didn't see anything close to it. Any help/guidance would be great as I'd love to help!

Hi guys. Yes, the sweep crew is a small group. We have been together for 7+ years. We are all on the same page and know what each and other are doing with no second guesses. We drive out 3 ton rigs through the thickest dust you can think of, after all of the cars are through with the stage completely chewed up. We simply do not need any extra rigs. If you want to see any of the rally, then work radio or Marshall, as the sweep crew never gets to spectate. Contact Kathy Moody for any more deals. rallykat158@yahoo.com.

Thanks Brightech. I too have driven very fast, for numerous hours-on-end, and w/out incident in amazingly thick dust in the great North Maine Woods for many, many years. But it sounds like you have your crew all set, maybe we'll see you around there.

I understand. And I know trying to explain things over the internet with my phone isn't the easiest. I wasn't trying to be a dink either, if that's how it came across. I'm lucky to be on the team. I'm not the Sweep Captain. This is how the stewardess and other officials want to run. There has/was others that said the same thing about being experienced and there was few totaled vehicles in the past. Thank god no one was seriously injured. I personally was rear ended in 2010 at 35 mph by an official that thought it was a good idea to follow behind us. But he wasn't on the right freq. On his ham and didn't hear us saying we were stopping to extract. Hope to see you and others up there. Please say hi.
