Some of you might remember me from last year I had the blue vanagon. After a major accident (drunk driver cleaned me out with no insurance and lost everything I owned) I am back!

Hope you guys had a great season, saw the Northeast FJ on 95 over the summer, I Got jealous. So after watching some dirt everyday... I finally am shaking the blues and ready to spend money.

Budget: less then $2000. I have all winter to fix issues. Prefer a clean body and frame. Lmk!

What are you thinking for a rig this time around? There's a few options with a 2K budget. Just wondering what direction you were headed in.

Isuzu Rodeo's (Honda Passport) can be had for your budget and are uber capable. I wheeled, camped, and daily drove those for over 12 years.

XJ's are also a great platform. be wary of the 00-01 heads (0331 stamped in them) but the 98-01 XJ is awesome too. Aftermarket support is redonkulous too.

WJ's are decent too, just watch out for the AWD drive models as the transfer cases can get locked in gear and will get destroyed on tar. Stick with 4.0L for long-lasting durability in those.

Stay away from the 3.0L in the Runners, and stick with the 3.4L's. Watch the rear coil spring buckets on those frames. That's the worst area, otherwise really look the frames over. They'll look great for the most part, then BAM, and big ole hole.. Sad

Final consensus... Early 2000s Frontier crew cab. Great prices, great support and 4 door with a bed. Budget boost, throw a cap on it and track down a good roof top tent.
