    Lightbar Thread

Post by FJ Boozah on Fri Nov 29, 2013 12:03 pm

    Hey guys,

I know a lot of guys are wondering about the different kinds of lightbars out there and the benefits and costs of them. I hoping this thread can be a starting point for people, as I'd like to get one of the larger ones sooner than later.

I found this one, although flood only, is a good start for this company. I have bought numerous lights from them and they are a great place to order from. Clearly cost effective as well. Ill probably hold out for a half and half version of flood and spot light.

So far Seward takes the cake for light output as well as price.

I was impressed with McNally's 20" Seward lightbar. Tough to beat for the cost.

I would think you'd want a flood on the bumper level to help during foggy/rainy situations, and a spot-type up high on the roof line (just above the A-pillar) to help project the light as far as possible.

Rigid sells little 4-pod lights that would work great as back-up or rear/side facing work lights. I'm sure others sell the smaller 4-pod style as well.

One of these would work great for a single set-up maybe in the middle facing backwards:

I'm thinking near the 3rd brake light area.

Half the price and 6 LED's:

This Rigid Industries is only 7900 Lumens for a 20" and at $650

This Rigid Industries is only 15800 lumens Its a 40" but this one is $1200 ( I did find it for like $950 on another site. But this one comes with mounting and wiring)

On the site you posted. You could wait get the flood and a spotlight when they come out. I think for $400 Someone could purchase 2, you would have 21600 Lumens. And one up high and down low. And still have money for reverse light by going with the group you posted. And save a BUNCH over "Rigid Industries" name brand.

We'll there ya go! I'm sure that the spots are coming out soon. We have a good report with their company and we out fitted all our cruisers with their lights and they gave a good deal.
