So the man in brown brought me some parts today. 3500lb axle, springs, hanger kit and ubolts. Ended up costing $221 with free shipping ( not sure how they do that it was 80lb's ) Need to get another set of spring perches so I can adjust the width. Will probably end up with a 43" x 70"trailer when finished. I will keep a running total of cost. Hoping to keep it under $500

Very cool. Just checked out the website too. I'll have to follow your build. And learn how to weld.

So I bought some more pieces today. Reciever tubes for both ends, new spring perches, and 10' of 2"x2" for the tongue. I have purchased some scrap steel from work to do the main frame and cross bars.
The orange pieces in the pics are load bars from upright racking and the blue pieces were also from racking the they tore down and work

Price updates are in 1st post

Ok so I scrapped the orange load bar for the frame. It wasn't what I really wanted I was just trying to be cheap. I ended up buying 20' of 2x2 to build the frame. I finished up the bottom frame and I am starting to mock up where I want to place the axle. .....If anybody want that orange frame for anything you can have its 46x71

Not sure if you can tell from the pic of the orange frame standing up but on the outside edge is not even. Since I am welding on the outside it was hard to fill that gap of about 3/16. While this is not usually a problem filling in the gap I had a hard time because the metal was pretty thin and kept blowing out.... If that makes sense

Angled corners and flat uprights eh? S'pose that'll be strong enough? (idk, that's why I ask.)
Are you going to skin the inside or outside?

I do believe it will be strong enough. I am going to skin the inside...With what I haven't decided yet. Hope to take it for a road test tomorrow. Just need to flip it upside down to finish the welding. Hope to have the fenders started and maybe finished this weekend. Then some load bars and mount my tent.

keep in mind an m416 has some simple stamped ribs in sheet that are only a 1/4" or so deep, and ive never seen anyone load a home made lid enough to buckle those gussets. with sheet tacked to the inside providing triangulation front to back, side to side, hes actually overkill.

Been undecided on what to put on the sides.. Want metal but funds are a bit low. I ended up with the bead board plywood for free so that's what I am going with for now. Going to stain it black and seam seal the top and bottom gaps. Going to use 5/16th T-Nuts to attach the ply to the uprights
